Abstract

We observed the relationship between B.S.P. and serum aspirinesterase activity as a liver function test in 40 cases of chronic liver diseases (chronic hepatitis; 20 cases and cirrhosis of the liver; 20 cases).
The results are as follows:
1) In 20 cases of chronic hepatitis, aspirinesterase activity was reduced in 901 and abnormal retention of B.S.P. was 95%.
2) In 20 csses of cirrhosis of the liver, aspirinesterase activity was reduced in 80% and abnormal
retention of B.S.P. was 100%.
3) In 40 cases of chronic liver diseases, aspirinesterase activity was reduced in 85% and abnormal retention of B.S.P. was 97.5%.
As the above results, it was revealed that the serum aspirinesterase activity could reflect the hepatic dysfunction, but not correlate with B.S.P. in chronic liver diseases.
